KWAN YIN (GUAN YIN), “Goddess of Mercy”, solid bronze (of unusual weight), on two piece circular turned wood stand;

Seated on lotus throne, legs folded, hands (folded in lap) holding a pearl; below images of a wheel or sun above a lotus flower; the hood of her robe pulled over her hair, which is dressed in high knot

Height of bronze alone : 9-1/2”
Height including stand : 12-1/2”
Circa : uncertain, perhaps a late 19th or early 20th century casting made in France or French Indochina from a much older Chinese original
Provenance : inherited from a French woman, married in the 1920's to a prominent American architect
