ANTIQUE RUSSIAN BRASS SAMOVAR with maker's marks for Batishev

Antique Russian Samovar, signed Batashev (Tula)

The urn shape body variant sometimes called "turnip" or 'tulip', on square 4-footed base

Height : 17-1/2", Handle-to-handle, 14" across

Circa : 1840 to 1900.

Retains all original removable parts, with spigot lever, paired handles, paired nobs and lid finial in good original condition.

Original turned wood nobs & handle-grips, retaining much of their original ebonized finish (one with a chip to the wood).

Interior retains the original period heating core.

Signed : in four lines of Cyrillic including the name BATESHEV, thus by a member of the celebrated Bateshev family of samovar makers in Tula.
Signed two places, on front of lid and front of base between feet.

Nice complete original condition.
