YORKTOWN 1781 Flag and MARTHA WASHINGTON gown 
Two historical textile fragments, framed together behind glass in a  7-1/2 x 4” metal frame with a solid metal back plate, according to the old ink inscription  above each relic  :  
 
Piece of flag surrendered to Gen. Washington at Yorktown, by Lord Cornwallis - 
	(a white fragment, 1-1/8” x 3/8”) 
 
 
Piece of Martha Washington's Ball dress  - 
 
(size 4 “x 2-1/2”, white or cream silk, embroidered motifs in white-on-white, and pale blue with gold/brown) 
 
Provenance : 
“Framed piece of surrender flag of Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown, October, 1781, and a piece of a Martha Washington ball dress.  Received from Mrs. Cazenove G. Lee, Jr. (whose husband was a direct descendent of Richard Henry Lee, a signer of the Declaration of Independence), 1965.  Mr. Lee has also etched his name on the verso.”     (Mr. RLS, Jr)
