Roman goddess 'FORTUNA' (called Tyche by the Greeks) carnelian intaglio in exceptional gold Vinaigrette ring

Goddess 'Fortuna' Ancient Intaglio in Gold Revivalist VINAIGRETTE RING of exceptional detailing.

The RING : probably Italian, circa 1850-70, by a fine but so far unidentified Revivalist jeweler serving visitors on the "Grand Tour"

A "VINAIGRTETE" (Perfume) Ring -- rare -- the hinged top opens to hold a tiny scent-impregnated sponge; the pierced grill beneath gently feeds scent to the wearer's hand

The INTAGLIO : Roman, circa 100-200 ad/ce, in natural vivid orange carnelian, a plano-convex oval, 13.6 x 10.7 x 6 mm, intaglio-carved with the image of goddess Fortuna, standing, with the cornucopia of prosperity and abundance, and the "gubernaculum" ship's rudder for steering one's course through life
